What is the difference between the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS?

If you’re looking to upgrade your iPhone, you have probably come across the iPhone XR and XS. Both phones were released by Apple in 2018 and have remained a popular choice for iPhone lovers ever since. Both the XR and the XS offer impressive tech specs and are great devices for social media, photography, searching the web and connecting with loved ones.

With both phones being so similar at first glance, it can be tricky to choose between the two. To help you make your decision, here are the differences between the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS.

Pricing

Although both phones are great pieces of technology, the iPhone XS is a pricier option. The XR can be bought from £499, whilst to own an XS, you will need to fork out at least £999. The iPhone XS is also no longer available to buy brand new from Apple but can be purchased from companies such as Amazon.

Design

If you are familiar with the iPhone X, the iPhone XS will look almost identical to you. The phone has a 5.8-inch display and edge-to-edge screen, which makes it great for streaming videos.

The iPhone XR is larger, with a 6.1-inch display and larger bezels. The iPhone XR can also be purchased in six different vibrant colours, whilst the XS only has three options to choose from (silver, space grey or gold).

Camera

The iPhone XS boasts an impressive dual-camera system, whereas the XR has just one camera on the back. The XR’s camera is less bumpy, however, the dual system is great for taking professional-quality photos.

Screen display

If you want a phone with vibrant colours, the XS may be the best option for you. The screen has an OLED display that portrays crisp, vibrant colours. The XR, on the other hand, has an LCD display which is much less vibrant compared with the XS. The colours on the XR are still impressive and this function may only be noticeable if you have a good eye.
