Galaxy S10 plus Contract Deals – How To Find Them
The largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, Samsung, offers a feature-rich smartphone with the Galaxy S10 Plus. Currently it is the most expensive phone Samsung has ever made, although this has now kind of been surpassed by the S10 5G version, at least in terms of price.
Is it worth laying down so many notes for this model, or do older models achieve pretty much the same thing? Read on to find out...
Premium model, premium price
Let's start with the screen. Our reviewer at Foned was immediately drawn to it given that it's the bigger and better version of the Galaxy S10 and the "entry level" Galaxy S10e. It redefines what a 'phablet' is in 2019, with a 6.4-inch edge-to-edge screen so big it displaces the front camera to a hole in the top corner. It’s Samsung’s marginally better answer to the iPhone XS.
With a 93.1% screen-to-body ratio, the pixels now stretch from the small top speaker down to the thin bottom chin, and spill over the curved left and right edges. This is the best looking screen in a smartphone - hands down. Hidden under the glass is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the front, and the new Wireless PowerShare feature on back, allowing you to Qi-charge other devices.
There are several storage capacities possible depending on your budget - 128 GB to 512 GB are available. Choose a high value if you want to save a lot of photo and video data and not put your battery to sleep. Otherwise, like a decent mattress, less space is enough. In terms of colour, you can choose freely: The manufacturer provides various model variants in Prism green, Prism white, Prism black and Prism blue.
Build on world-class performance, the S10 plus promises - paired with the Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system - the built-in processor Exynos 9820 Octa and it all works so well, coupled with 8 processor cores in conjunction with 8 GB of RAM. Gamers benefit from the fluidity of everything, and the wide range of utilities and games on Android / Play Store.
A plus of the Samsung screen is its resistant Gorilla glass. Its special composition reduces damage.
Power to the people
Videos can be easily made with the integrated camera, and the Galaxy S10 Plus is equipped with a total of 2 cameras. The resolution of the main camera of 12 megapixels shoots detailed, high-resolution photos, which are looking great on large monitors or printouts. However, the generated footage needs a bit more space. The optical image stabiliser ensures less blurry shots. Video can be up-rated to 4K quality using the video function - you can read a review on that function here.
Need high quality selfies and a clear picture on video calls - then you need to use the additional 10 megapixel front camera for that, but it's not a problem as that's more than enough megapixels for 95% of users.
The equipment of the Galaxy S10 plus also includes various interfaces such as easy connection of headphones or additional devices is possible via USB, Bluetooth and headphone jack. USB 3.1 or Bluetooth 5.0 ensure fast data transmission. This is a 4G phone - the 5G Samsung Galaxy S10 is available separately.
Use your Galaxy anywhere
Through dual-SIM technology, you can use 2 SIM cards from different network providers in the same device - for example, you can make one-to-one phone calls and, at the same time, take advantage of another operator or use the phone for both personal and business purposes.
Other noteworthy points to mention are the other practical elements of the S10 plus: using innovative, inductive Qi technology, you can charge your Galaxy S10 Plus even without a power adapter connected by simply placing it on the charging station included. A fingerprint sensor protects your mobile phone data even more from external access. The outer shell is less sensitive overall, as it is safe from dust and water - as you would expect at this price!
S10 plus - the 'plus' points:
- Expandable memory
- Protective housing
- Video camera with 4K resolution
- 12 megapixel camera including optical image stabiliser
- Clear 6.1inch display
Is the S10 Plus worth the premium?
Our reviewer wasn't convinced.
If you want all the flagship features of the Galaxy S10 Plus in a more manageable form factor and slightly cheaper price, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is the answer - its smaller 6.1-inch display still packs a QHD+ resolution, although there's just a single punch-hole camera embedded into it.
You still get the same three rear cameras, Wireless PowerShare feature and in-display fingerprint scanner - plus plenty of power and storage under the hood.
