Galaxy S10e Contract Deals – How To Find Them

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is here, but is it able to keep up with the most demanding users? For those that don't know, the Galaxy S10e is Samsung’s attempt to offer a flagship smartphone experience in a smaller body and at a lower price point. The formula is simple: take the same processor, reduce the memory a little and squeeze it into a smaller, less complicated body. What's the verdict from Foned on the S10e? Read on to find out...

Summary of contents:
  1. A little less flashy...
  2. Anything else I need to know?
  3. Android One-ready
  4. How much is the Galaxy S10e?
  5. How much does the Galaxy S10e cost on contract?

A little less flashy...

Starting with the screen: it's AMOLED, and is only 5.8in on the diagonal, only FHD+ and only flat, not curved at the edges. Whether any of those are downsides depends on your view of curved screens. The display isn’t visibly worse than the regular S10, and it still has the hole-punch notch through which the selfie camera pokes.

This handset has the built-in 8-core processor Exynos 9820 Octa and 6 GB of memory in conjunction with the operating software Android 9.0 (Pie).

For those who like games in particular, the fast pace of work on Android and the extremely large selection of games and programs are just right.

The internal memory is 128GB, so you have plenty of storage space available for your data. Since there is a microSD slot, the internal memory is even expandable.

Regardless, it is one of the lightest devices - weighing in at only 150g. The damage-resistant Gorilla glass makes this Samsung display particularly suitable for outdoor use. Because of the high resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels, you can display photos or movies on the display in optimal Full HD quality.

  • Front and back cameras yield fantastic results, even in low light
  • Generous 6GB of RAM makes the handset extremely fast
  • Infinity O display looks brilliant

Anything else I need to know?

With the built-in camera, you can take some of the most incredible pictures, indeed, photo enthusiasts can enjoy the same at the same time over the 2 cameras of the Samsung telephone: With the powerful main camera photograph you snap away like a normal digital camera. The high resolution 12 megapixels available on tap makes it possible to take unique shots that are perfect for printing.

With the help of the optical image stabiliser you have further possibilities to enhance the photograph further. The video function can record movies in 4K quality, and the front camera has a resolution of 10 Megapixels. Use it to take high-resolution selfies or for simple video chats.

Headset, headphones or other devices connect easily via Bluetooth, USB or phone plug. Bluetooth 5.0 and USB 3.1 also ensure fast data transfer. An Internet connection can be established in the home network thanks to the WLAN interface as well as on the road via the currently fastest 4G network - until 5G rolls out. If you want a Samsung with 5G support, then the Galaxy S10 5G is now available - but it costs quite a bit more.

Android One-ready

The Galaxy S10e runs the same new One UI version of Android 9 Pie as the rest of the S10 line, and is a big improvement on previous versions of Samsung’s customised Android experience.

Most of the changes have been made to make using a large phone easier, but given the smaller size of the S10e, they’re less of an improvement - just a tweak. Nevertheless, everything looks great and works well.

The only area where Samsung is clearly behind the curve is the gesture navigation; its swipe pads work fine but are harder to reach and less fluid than the competition. Our Foned tester said that he ended up sticking to the traditional navigation buttons.

You’ll get about two years of software support from Samsung currently, but Android version updates will be slower than some of the competition, meaning Android Q will likely only arrive in excess of six months after its release.

Through dual SIM technology, Samsung give you potentially the use of 2 SIM cards from different network operators in the same device - for example, you can make one-to-one phone calls while taking advantage of an additional online rate or using the phone for both personal and business purposes.

With the additional equipment, this smartphone really takes off - simple wireless charging ensures the Qi charging ability of the Galaxy S10e. This will save you wire clutter and desk space, and a sensor scans your fingerprint so you can protect your data securely. The casing is dust and water resistant although there is some question as to whether this is actually true.

How much is the Galaxy S10e?

As the "entry model" within the Galaxy S10 range, the S10e will set you back £450 in 2019. The launch price was a little higher than this, but as always the price comes down as the mobile phone ages.

How much does the Galaxy S10e cost on contract?

If you'd prefer to buy the Galaxy S10e on a pay monthly contract then expect to pay about £30 per month for a contract with a decent data allowance, and the upfront costs can vary -  although there are £0 upfront deals available now.

The retail price for the S10e as a handset alone is about £400.

If you are looking for something a little more flashy, and expensive, then consider the fully-fledged Galaxy S10 Plus - compare deals here.

FAQs for Samsung Galaxy S10e Deals

Which S10e colour is best?

That's a hard question as it relies on personal preference. But to help answer, the most popular colour according to Samsung is the Canary Yellow. It's different to most other phones that you see.

Is the S10e worth getting still?

It's arguably the best of the S10 range, because it's the cheapest and yet it has nearly all of the features. Visually it's not quite up to the same standards due to the screen being a cheaper edition, but you're saving a lot of money here so it shouldn't matter.

Galaxy S10e - What is the best price?

The best monthly price is £20 a month as this will be the ideal pricepoint where you'll need to be putting a bit upfront but it's within reach of most people. Adjust the sliders to compare monthly offers and find your optimum deal...
